It is the responsibility of every owner of old applicants to collect the waste from electrical and electronic equipment separately which means not to put it into unsorted settlement garbage and particular not into household rubbish. Such waste has to rather be collected separately and disposed at the local collection and return systems.
Owners of old devices also shall separate batteries and accumulators from the application which are not surrounded by the old application before handing it to the detection site.
The latter does not apply if the waste is according to § 14 paragraph 5 sentence 2 and 3 of the ElektroG which means it is supposed to be separated from other waste under the opting by the public waste disposal carriers for the purpose of preparation for reuse.
The symbol indicating separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment consists of a crossed-out wheeled bin, as shown below. The symbol must be printed visibly, legibly and indelibly.
